River Song - Alex Kingston
Screen-used prop from Christmas Special 2015 "Husbands of River Song".
The Twelfth Doctor gave River Song her own sonic screwdriver at the beginning of her final date with him at the Singing Towers of Darillium knowing that she would need it when she ultimately met their Tenth incarnation in the Library.
This sonic screwdriver prop designed by Peter McKinstry and built by Nick Robatto was supposed to have the appearance of a modified, future iteration of the Tenth Doctor’s sonic and thus shares many similar details in shape, materials, and finish, while adding a “neural relay”, trigger, and patina. While this prop has working lights, the "neural relay port" is static and non-removable.
This prop is one of only three River Song sonic screwdriver props ever created for filming on Doctor Who. Two hero props were originally built for its first appearance in "Silence in the Library" alongside a third set of backup parts that were assembled later and ultimately hired out to the BBC for filming on the 2015 Doctor Who Christmas Special, "The Husbands of River Song".
